The sun had made its fiery end...
And still the women stood...
Unmindful of the hour...
With an almost cheerful mood...

Were they waiting for their beaus,
as they watched the noisy crows?

And how pray tell
will all these gals
keep warm their
chilly toes?

Lacey flakes of snow began...
They fell upon the ground...
Still the women lingered...
They were determined, they were bound...

An unseen power of soul...
An unseen power of fate...
It lured them~it called them...
They would not hesitate...

so together they stood ...
to fight, not run ...
together they stood ...
hey - this might even be fun!

They held the slip of paper...
And pondered every clue...
An adventure was unfolding...
Their anticipation grew...

They walked down the lighted path
and came upon the little village shops
Each one painted a different color
Each one with snowy tops

The windows all lit up showing all kinds of treasures inside...
How inticing and exciting
all other thoughts put aside...

But only one shop
Caught their eye
Because inside what did they spy?

Lovely woolen scarves that each could buy,
In the same elusive colors found in the sky.
They could wrap their heads and so could kill
The bitter wind that caused such a chill.

But in an inkling, they did spy,
Out under the forbidding sky,
Another shop with windows tall
That lured them like a siren's call...

And pretty gloves for their hands
The glorious colors from many lands
They stepped outside only to see
The elusive follower and his key

The key they wanted for their own
In his hand it brightly shone
So they knocked him to the ground
and on his head they did pound.

And so, with this impediment gone,
they decided to travel on.
The key before them, on they went,
until most of the day was spent.

The evening came, they were still there
Wondering what their souls had laid bare.
Twas not for nothing that they sought
And time was something that was not bought.

With no more time to waste
They moved forward in great haste
Arm in arm fearful in the park
For it was getting quite dark

Oh Quite dark they in this park
swept up with grace
decided to skate
a slip, a fall
oh why have we decided at all
to skate so late in this darken air~

Lights approached them...
Within the growing dark...
The Trio, momentarily startled...
Thought to flee into the park...

Alas twas' a knight in shining armor,
Upon his stately Purebreed horse,
And in a song-like unison they chimed,
MY Prince Charming.....of course!

No need for me to blush I will meet him at dust
For a ride into the night with forbidding delight.

But wait they cried, tis three we need,
Three brave knights with trusty steed,
Remember girls you have the key,
Unlock the door and look for three.

But alas that delight was very slight
As my knight was called of into the night
I raised my hand as he rode away
Hoping he'd return at my heart's
command one day

The knight and steed...
Did thus depart...
But fear not...
Nor be faint of heart...

For as time passed...
The Trio stood still...
Commanded by...
A greater will...

In the distance...
Past the dusky knoll...
Came kind gentlemen...
Three~all toll...

Oh what treasure the shopkeepers key did hold,
Or as this ol' folklore has been told,
The key held magic for those seeking true love and a lifelong mate,
But what now for the 3 maidens fate?

OH my goodness...I have sat here thinking...look at those great poetry lines..i can't think of a thing...but I enjoy reading them...sorry The Muse!

From the looks on their faces,
one wouldn't know...
and secrets they shared about long ago...
were sealed like that door which was now open wide...

As the key turned, and revealed ...
The three maidens beheld,
Youths from their own backyard,
They considered beneath their regard...

But the maidens knew now - that
The men had always been true knights,
The key turned and gave the maidens the sights,
To see through the guise and know what's what..

dear Muse, I hope I did not make a hash of it.. has been a while since i wrote something like this... :)
It was fun... and yes we found Chowki dhani a refreshing experience...

The first lad was very short...
And uglier than sin...
The second lad was very stout...
He had three double-chins!


Sorry, Muse. Took your beautiful, romantic poem and turned it into a comedy sketch. Ah, so is life!

Three double chins?
How can that be?
Is he from a loony bin?
Or is it just me?

:)

Yet 'neath those chins,Lay heart of gold,
The third knight,neither young or old,
Was very fair and stout of heart,
And practiced in the kingly art.
All three young flappers loved the third,
So short one, stout one left unheard.

The ladies knew
despite the view
That had the key been freely given?
They might have seen
their true love miens
and really done some livin' Lol!! Vanna

That's "true loves miens" Sheesh I can't type worth a poop! V

But alas, its not too late
to make of this a triple date.
They begged the third knight to fetch the others and bring them back.
Bring back the short one!
Bring back the stout!
Please don't make us have to shout!

We didn't mean to be so shallow...
One should not judge a book by its cover...
when looking for your future lover.

And so the maidens each found love,

When given sight from H'ven above,

And learned to see as God see us,

Not faulty, but with beauty plus;

They learned to see with heart-filled eyes,

And to their very great surprise,
The last two knights were dreams come true

And loved the maidens through and through.
