Tablescape Tuesday
Continues Below...
(to join in the fun, or to read other great blogs...please s
ee my side bar for links :) )

Famine to Feast
Far flung savageries had wrought...
The little maid
en's spirit...
Way more than it
had ought...

She longed for peace...
To soothe her
brain...
To break the corporate cha
in...

She gathered up her courage thus...
And through the forest fl
ed...
Filled with trepidation...
And a tiny bit of dread...

Sparring branches dark and deep...
She slippe
d...
She faltered...
But never fell too ste
ep...

At moments...
(When the current rushed...
And water was her brea
th that gushed)...
The little m
aiden...
Pondered and wondered.
..
How her journey wa
s continuing thus...

She had struggled far into the wood...
And darkness was up
on the ground...
And there
she halted...
Stopped
...
And looked around...

"Why did I take this journey?...
Who am I to
shine?...
I am col
d and I am hungry...
And there is no place h
ere to dine...

I am all
alone...
In these deep and
dark cold woods.

Alon
e."

She sat upon
the ground...
In a li
ttle maiden heap...
Wishing and
hoping...
For just a bit of sleep...

And suddenly a whooshing sound...
C
ame lightly tattering on the ground...
She lifted u
p her eyes to see...
The approaching S
onnet Queen...

The air was clear and filled with soul...
The trees knew her fro
m days of old...
She had ventured in
this wood...
And the nature of the kingdom...
Knew her to be good...

"Why are you in such a state?...
Don't you know tha
t you are late?...
We have bee
n waiting...
Yes..
I rather say anticipating...
Your arrival at the Muse's castle gate."

The weary little maiden...
Blinked her eyes...
To see the Sonnet Queen...
She was quite surp
rised...

But the only words she could utter...
Came softly and wi
th a stutter...
"I am cold and I am hungry...
And there is no place here to dine...
Why did I take this jou
rney?...
Who am I to shine?...

I am all
alone...
In th
ese deep and dark cold woods..."

Then from the hollows dark and deep...
From those mo
untains...
She had climbed
...
Those mountains...
Oh so steep...
Near the rivers...
With r
ock beds worn...
Came maidens of every color, shape and form...

For they too had journeyed...
In the woods long ago...
And k
new the path to maiden~dom...
In the forest so...

Tenderly they urged her rise...
These maidens of every
hue and size...

Walking along side...
Th
ey did not chide...
But offered thu
s...
What was just...

Maidens' hands...
And maidens' hearts...
The path they did guide...
And thus the little maiden...
Finally arrived...

Not alone...
No indeed...
And as she passed...
The castle gates...
They saw she was in need...
T
he maidens all lifted her...
And she was pla
ced...
Upon a steed...

Off to the bountiful banquet...
Went the Queen Sonnet's brood...
All rejoicing for the little maiden...
As they partook of
spiritual food...

Green velvet leaves form a layered forest tablecloth, gold chargers and plates work with plain white china pieces. Roses and feathers...spray painted a high gloss black, serve as unexpected contrasts...nestled in individual settings (soup bowls)...the woodland maidens may now have their feast!

Muse, I loved the poem, the tablescape, and your lampshade. That table looks absolutely ethereal, and I can imagine the maiden dining there with the Forest Queen. :-) And then, for their particular delight, they can turn on that lamp and have not only a rosy glow from the shade, but they can enjoy the fou-fou trim which will no doubt make them smile!

Have a lovely day, Muse!

XO,

Sheila :-)

There was a maiden fair and bright
Her hair felt of barley
Her eyes looked like rye

Through the thick wood
Through the valleys with thorns...

Through the rocky, shallow brooks
Her feet so broke 'n' worn...

A soft touch she feels...
A soft touch, so warm..

Tis the Sonnet Queen!
Bade her come in from the storm
Her wings a feathere'd green
With labors of love they were worn

You are home now
We shall bind up thy wounds

You are home now
We shall together wait for thy groom

He will come...

He will take thee and make thee shine like the sun.

:)

And the poem...you do spoil us on Tablescape Tuesday! :-) I wondered if the maiden was you first venturing into "scary" Blogland, and then surrounded in the end by all these wonderful fellow bloggers we have all been so fortunate to meet on our journey here. The beauty of poetry...one gets to take from it what we "feel" and make it our own. Thanks for another wonderful TT. Susan
P.S. Your lamp is just perfect! Love it! Susan
